Travel Information
Columbia University is easily accessible from John F.
Kennedy (JFK) International, Newark International (EWR), and LaGuardia
(LGA)
airports (LGA serves
domestic flights only). Average one-way taxi fare to Columbia,
or to the hotels, is approximately $50 from JFK
or Newark, or $30 from
LaGuardia. Please note
that taxis may or may not
accept credit cards, cash
may be required.
Train and
car service options are also
available. If you take
a taxi from the airport, please
use an authorized taxi from a
taxi stand at the airport.
From within Manhattan, Teachers College is served by the Number 1 subway train
(red line) at the 116th St. stop. From this stop, you'll be at 116th
Street and Broadway. Walk four blocks north to 120th Street and Broadway,
then take a right turn to enter Teachers College. The
conference site at Zankel
Hall is at 525 W. 120th
Street, on your left side a
half block east of Broadway. Please note that the 2
and 3 trains on the red line do not serve Columbia.
Getting Around New York
New York is a very walkable
city; in addition, taxis are
readily available, and the
subway and bus systems serve New
York City and the surrounding
areas.

If You Forgot to Bring
Anything...
There are all sorts of
stores near the conference
hotels; the primary drugstore
chains are Duane Reade, CVS, and
Walgreens. Many drugstores
are open 24 hours per day.
Probably the nearest drugstore
to the conference hotel area is the
Duane Reade at 380 Amsterdam
Avenue, near 79th St. And
there's one at 2864 Broadway,
near 111th St., close to
Columbia. Plus many more.
If you need some electronic or
computer equipment, there is a
Circuit City electronics store
at 2232 Broadway, near 80th St.
Circuit City is open till 9:00
PM during the week.

participants. Information will
be posted as it gets closer
to the conference.
