Car Services
Manhattan offers a
number of car and limousine
services. These
services generally require
advance reservations (which
can be made online), allow
credit card payment, and
offer rates that can be
comparable to taxi fares.
Two reliable services that
we have used, both of which
serve all airports, are:
Dial 7 (a reliable and
inexpensive service; they do
require you to call them
when you arrive at the
airport and will meet you
outside the terminal).
Elite Limousine (also
reliable, they offer some
higher-end options such as
meeting you inside the
terminal).
Trains from the Airport
to the Conference Hotels
From Newark Airport (EWR):
- Take the "AirTrain" at the
airport to the airport train
station. The ride lasts just
a few minutes.
- Purchase a ticket on New
Jersey Transit to New York
Penn Station (there also,
confusingly, is a Penn
Station in New Jersey, which
is not your destination).
The one-way fare is $15.
Trains generally run every
20 minutes or so most times
of day, schedules are
available at
http://www.njtransit.com/sf/sf_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=TrainSchedulesTo
. The trip to
New York Penn Station takes
25-30 minutes.
- From Penn Station, you'll
need to purchase a subway "MetroCard"
with at least $2 on it and
take the "1" train to 79th
St.
- To the Belleclaire from
79th St.: walk two blocks
south on 79th St. to 77th
St., take a right turn onto
77th St., and the
Belleclaire will soon be on
your left at 250 W. 77th St.
- To the Park 79 from 79th
St.: walk east on 79th St.
past Amsterdam Avenue,
you'll see the Park 79 on
your left at 117 W. 79th
St., approximately 1 and 1/2
blocks from the subway.
.From
Kennedy Airport (JFK):
- Take the "AirTrain" at the
airport to Jamaica Station.
You'll need to buy a MetroCard
either at the airport or at your
destination, with at least $5 on
it (this card is also used on
the subways, so you may want to
buy a card with more money on
it).
- From Jamaica Station, purchase
a ticket and take the Long
Island Rail Road to Penn
Station. Trains run roughly
every 20 minutes or so,
depending on day and time.
The one-way fare is either $10
or $12 depending on time of day.
Schedules are available at

. Alternately, you can
take the E subway train to Penn
Station for a $2 fare. But
this takes a long time (one our
or so) and isn't the most
pleasant or safe route,
particularly at night.
