Message from the ICELW Chair

It's my pleasure to chair the fifth annual International Conference on E-learning in the Workplace (ICELW)

I have always viewed ICELW as a fairly unique conference, in that we bring together researchers and practitioners from such a wide variety of countries and backgrounds. ICELW is certainly one of the only places I've ever been where I've heard the phrases "cognitive load" and "return on investment," both within the same hour!  In our previous  conferences--and we expect the same again this year--we've had a wonderful mix of researchers, corporate trainers and directors, e-learning consultants, and many more. We also look to have a variety of session formats, with lots of demonstrations of successful e-learning approaches, our new debate format, and a fair amount of overall discussion.

Along with the conference program, I've appreciated the high attendance and level of enthusiasm at our conference social events, including the "conference drinks" evening and our conference dinner. We always look to make ICELW a very enjoyable event for everyone, and have been happy to see that the social events are popular and that people form friendships and professional connections through the events as well as through the sessions themselves.

I'm looking forward to our 2012 conference, our fifth-anniversary ICELW, at Columbia University.

I hope to see you in New York from June 13th-15th, 2012!

David Guralnick
